Decepticons are group of Transformers. Like all Transformers they are able to transform into an alternate form. This alternate form is usually a form of airplane or other flying vehicle.
Leadership
Before Transformers : The Movie
The Earth-bound Decepticons were lead by Megatron during the first two seasons of the show, while Shockwave was the interm leader of the Decepticons on Cybertron. Starscream was generally taken to be the second in command on Earth, using Megatron as a weapon when in gun form.
After Transformers: The Movie
After Transformers: The Movie, all Decepticons are lead by Galvatron, which is an reincarnation of Megatron created by Unicron. Starscream, widely regarded as a power-hungry traitor, was killed by Galvatron on his return to Cybertron and thus ending his treachery.
